Grades Pre K-8 Fine Arts Offerings

  • DANCE

    Dance is rooted in a creative approach to teaching and learning, setting clear expectations for learning across all cultures, styles, and genres. This approach imparts the full breadth and depth of the dance experience through art-making processes. These standards inspire dance educators and their students to explore the many facets of dance, preparing them for a lifetime of engagement with this dynamic art form.

    Dance courses include Hip-Hop, Modern, Social, and World Dance.

     

     

    THEATRE 

    Theatre Arts encompass both drama processes and theatre products. While many secondary theatre programs emphasize performance and design in staged productions as evidence of student understanding and achievement, ongoing engagement in theatre is defined and valued. These standards address both drama processes and traditional theatre. Drama processes involve envisioned worlds and unscripted activities that engage students in various real and imagined issues. Theatre includes the broader, more traditional conventions that have developed over centuries, such as scripted plays, acting, public performance, and stagecraft.

    Theatre courses include Spoken Word, Musical Theatre, Plays, Drama

     

    MUSIC

    Music education is rooted in a creative approach to teaching and learning. It sets expectations for learning in music, regardless of culture, style, or genre, and conveys the breadth and depth of the musical experience through the art-making processes. The goal of these standards is to inspire music educators and their students to explore the many facets of music and prepare them for a lifetime of engagement with the art form.

    Music courses include Band, Chorus, General Music, Recorders, Modern Band, World Drumming, Digital Music, and Strings

     

     

    VISUAL ARTS

    Includes traditional fine arts such as drawing, painting, printmaking, photography, and sculpture; media arts including film, graphic communications, animation, and emerging technologies; architectural, environmental, and industrial arts such as urban, interior, product, and landscape design; folk arts; and works of art such as ceramics, fibers, jewelry, works in wood, paper, and other materials.

    Visual Art courses include: Sculpture, 2D Art, 3D Art, Ceramics, Drawing, Painting
