    Holly Maxson stands as a beacon of excellence in education, embodying impeccable instructional design, delivery, and boundless patience. With a steadfast commitment to urban public school education, she has devoted her career to uplifting students and fostering their artistic potential. Collaborating seamlessly with stakeholders and community leaders, Holly champions the integration of fine arts into our educational landscape.

    Her vision for fine arts education is rooted in progressivism, embracing the notion that each student is a unique individual capable of exploration, experimentation, and problem-solving. Through immersive, hands-on curriculum and top-tier instruction, she empowers students to engage deeply with their creative instincts. Additionally, Holly actively contributes to various organizations including the NHPS Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Teams, the Connecticut Association of Latino Administrators and Superintendents, The Governor’s Council of Women and Girls STEAM Initiative Sub Committee, and the Connecticut Arts Administrators Association.

    Bringing a wealth of experience from her tenure as the Fine Arts Supervisor in Waterbury Public Schools, Holly has served as a teacher, administrator, coordinator, and performing artist. Her accomplishments span overseeing curriculum and instruction across all grade levels, orchestrating district-wide fine arts events, spearheading summer arts programs, and nurturing student enrichment through collaborative projects with community partners. Her multifaceted expertise includes roles as a digital music teacher, visual art teacher, general music teacher, orchestra director, musical theatre director, and professional flutist. Holly holds degrees from the University of Bridgeport, East Carolina University, and the Governor’s School for the Arts.

    Determined to expand access to fine arts education, Holly aims to develop a comprehensive mission for the program while raising the standards of performance, creation, response, and connection. She remains committed to aligning these efforts with the CT Common Core of State Standards, emphasizing the development of crucial literacy skills. Looking ahead, Holly envisions a vibrant partnership with community stakeholders, leveraging the rich cultural tapestry and diversity of New Haven to enrich the fine arts experience for all students.
