Certification Information

All New Haven Public School teachers must be licensed by the Connecticut State Department of Education (CSDE). 

There are two pathways to eligibility for educator certification in Connecticut:

• eligibility based on program preparation
• eligibility based on teaching experience

Please visit the Connecticut State Department of Education website (http://www.ctcert.org) to learn more about each pathway, which certificate to pursue based on your experience and how to obtain state teaching. 

If you are certified in another state or country and are eligible to work in the United States, we encourage you to consider opportunities in the New Haven Public Schools.
